Double cream keeps for 10 days in the fridge, counted from when you buy it. That's SnapLarder's estimate for double cream (heavy cream) in general. If the packet has a date, go by the packet: it's specific to that product.

How long does double cream last once opened?

5 days. Opening never extends a date: if the date on the packet comes sooner, go by that.

Can you use double cream after the use-by date?

No. A use-by date is about safety: don’t use it after it, even if it looks and smells fine. If you can’t use it in time, you can freeze it up to the use-by date. If the packet says best before instead, that’s about quality: check it, and it’s often fine for a while after. Use by vs best before

Can you freeze double cream?

Yes. Double cream keeps for about 3 months in the freezer. Freeze it before the date on the packet, defrost it in the fridge, and use it within 2 days of thawing.
